WHERE TO RIDE FROM NICE – THE ESTEREL & ADRETS

This route takes you into the Esterel national park west of Cannes. Take a train to Cannes and ride out along the sandy beach – or, if you want a long (160km) ride, simply head out along the cycle path from Nice.

The Esterel coast road starting from Théoule-sur-Mer is beautiful, winding through secluded coves and up and down into pretty village ports. Just before Saint Raphaël head north and into the red-rocked hills, and then descend from Les Adrets, famous for its mimosa flowers in the winter, back towards Cannes.

RIDE INSIGHTS

The famous climb to Tanneron is known by local cyclists as ‘La Montée du Grand Duc’, the Grand Duc being the forest which was infected with yellow after mimosa trees were first imported and planted here in the late 19th century.

When the ville of Nice decided to use #nicecyclingparadise to promote the grand depart of the 2020 Tour de France, there was definite method in the madness. If Paradise Lost has over ten thousand lines of verse, this cycling paradise found has almost as many routes, roads, stretches, views, climbs, cols, lacets, stops and starting points. Enough at least to satisfy even the most discerning cyclist.

Our Badges

To celebrate the local climbs and the roads we ride, we created a badge for each of our local cols, collected together in our Montagne à la Carte series. After that we raised our eyes and we added badges for some of the world's iconic climbs, creating our Montagnes du Monde series.

Ride the climb and claim the badge. From Col d'Eze on our doorstep to Sa Calobra, Mount Fuji, Mount Baldy and beyond.
