Monastery Lluc

This is a beautiful day out in one of the most scenic parts of the island. Created for those who are willing to spend some time up in the forest and mountains, it follows a section of the GR221 trail and is an easy route to navigate.

Take the bus or car (or bike if you’re feeling lively) to Monastery Lluc, the journey up there itself is worth the time. If you’re travelling up by bike the Col de sa Bataille will really get you warmed up. Don’t forget to bring a lock and hydration equipment.

At the Monastery, where the run starts, you can fill your bottles. It’s a 16km run with 1000m uphill. The first section is in the forest, on a nice trail (trail shoes are recommended). After a steady 5km climb, you’ll leave the shadowy roads, for panoramic trails with magnificent views over perfectly run-able singletrack.

Take your time to complete the uphill because from that point on it’s all downhill, on the same run-able roads as the uphill part. It’s a loop, so you’ll end up at the Monastery where there are bars & restaurants to get you recharged for the journey home, especially if you’re pedalling back.
